Why This Policy Exists
Every research reference product on PortfolioLighting.net — the Compliance, Sustainability, Automation, Hardware & Reliability, Troubleshooting Diagnostic Tree, Fixture & Model Archive, Low-Voltage Design, Landscape Design & Planning, and Holiday & Seasonal references — is a digital file (CSV + JSON + README, delivered as a ZIP) made available for immediate download the moment your payment is confirmed.
Unlike a physical product, a digital file can't be "returned" once it's been downloaded — there's no way to verify it hasn't been kept, copied, or used. This is standard practice for instant-delivery digital goods, and it's the reason nearly every digital product or dataset marketplace operates on a final-sale basis rather than a traditional return window.
To make this fair, we try to remove the guesswork before you buy — see "Know Before You Buy" below — so a no-refund policy doesn't mean buying blind.
Know Before You Buy
Every product's dataset page is built specifically so you don't have to purchase to find out what you're getting. Before buying, you can review:

Exceptions — When We Will Help
A no-refund policy doesn't mean no support. The following situations are handled on a case-by-case basis:
📦 Non-Delivery
If your payment was completed but you never received a working download link, contact us with your order confirmation and we'll get you the file directly.
🗂️ Corrupted or Unreadable File
If the ZIP won't open, or the CSV/JSON inside is genuinely corrupted, we'll send a fresh copy. This is treated as a delivery fix, not a refund, since the product itself is fully deliverable.
🔁 Accidental Duplicate Purchase
If you can show you were charged twice for the identical product (two order confirmations, same product, close together in time), the duplicate charge is refunded.
⚖️ Required by Law
Where local consumer protection law requires a refund right we haven't otherwise addressed here, that legal right applies regardless of this policy.
How to Request Help
- Email [email protected] with your order confirmation (from Square) and a brief description of the issue.
- Include the product name and, if applicable, a screenshot of the error you're seeing.
- We'll respond with either a corrected download link or, for a verified duplicate purchase, confirmation that the duplicate charge is being refunded.
Chargebacks
If you have an issue with an order, please contact us directly first — most delivery and file issues can be resolved within a day. Filing a payment-processor chargeback without contacting us first slows down resolution for everyone and may result in future purchases being declined. We're generally able to resolve legitimate delivery problems faster through direct contact than through a bank or card dispute.
