Quick Answer: How This Database Helps
This page helps identify what a Portfolio model is, what electrical system it belongs to, what usually fails, and what replacement direction makes sense. That matters because many older Portfolio products are searched by Lowe's item number, not by the model number printed on the transformer, fixture sticker, or original package.
Use this database with the Portfolio Lighting model number lookup, the model specs guide, and the model parts directory when you need a deeper repair path.
If your model number points to an older discontinued fixture, start with the discontinued Portfolio Lighting guide so you can understand whether the product is still serviceable, parts-only, or better replaced with a compatible modern fixture.
Logic Summary: Model, Power, Failure, Compatibility
| Question | Why It Matters | Best Technical Move |
|---|---|---|
| Is it 12V low voltage or 120V hardwired? | Transformers, path lights, deck lights, and flood lights are usually low-voltage. Wall lanterns and ceiling fixtures are usually 120V. | Do not mix parts until the voltage class is confirmed from the label. |
| Is the LED integrated? | Integrated LED fixtures often do not have a normal replaceable bulb. | Test connector corrosion and voltage before replacing the whole fixture. |
| Is it an older GL or clip-on connector system? | Legacy connector styles may not match modern Portfolio connectors. | Adapt to modern 12/2 cable with correct weatherproof low-voltage splices. |
| Is the transformer overloaded? | A transformer can shut down from heat or overload even when the fixtures are good. | Use the 80% load rule and split higher-wattage systems across multiple runs. |
If the transformer powers on but the lights still fail, compare the symptoms with Portfolio transformer not powering lights and Portfolio transformer getting hot before replacing the unit.
Need exact replacement parts, connector dimensions, transformer compatibility, or legacy fixture identification? Use the Portfolio Lighting Replacement Handbook before ordering replacement components or rewiring older systems.

Technical Compatibility Rules Before You Use the Model Cards
Transformer rules
Portfolio transformer compatibility starts with voltage and load. A 12V AC transformer can power compatible low-voltage landscape fixtures, but the transformer wattage must stay below practical load limits. I use the 80% rule: a 120W unit should normally be planned around 96W, a 200W unit around 160W, and a 300W unit around 240W.
For deeper transformer decisions, use the Portfolio transformer wattage guide, transformer sizing guide, transformer troubleshooting guide, and transformer wiring diagram.
Fixture rules
A socketed fixture is usually easier to repair than an integrated LED fixture. If the fixture uses a replaceable MR16, T5 wedge, candelabra, or medium-base lamp, you can often repair the light without replacing the housing. If the LED is integrated, the connector, wire lead, and driver/module condition matter more.
For fixture parts, use the Portfolio Lighting replacement parts guide, LED modules and drivers guide, and low-voltage wire connectors guide.
GL22640–GL22647 Legacy Series Note
The GL22640 through GL22647 models are treated as a Lowe's-era low-voltage transformer family. The biggest technical issue is not just wattage. It is connector compatibility. These older systems may use proprietary or older clip-on connector styles that do not match modern Portfolio replacement connectors.
The best compatibility path is usually to confirm 12V AC output, test the transformer under load, and adapt the field wiring to modern 12/2 cable with weatherproof low-voltage connectors when the old connector ecosystem is no longer practical.

Portfolio Lighting Master Model Database FAQ
Why does this page include both model numbers and item numbers?
Many older Portfolio Lighting products were sold through Lowe's with item numbers that appear on receipts, boxes, and product pages. The actual fixture or transformer may show a different model number. Listing both helps connect the receipt identity to the physical product.
Are integrated LED Portfolio fixtures repairable?
Some are only partly repairable. The LED module itself may not be replaceable, but the connector, stake, lens, lead wire, and transformer feed can still be checked. A bad connector can make an integrated LED fixture look dead.
What does the repairability score mean?
The repairability score estimates how practical it is to keep the model working today. Socketed wall lanterns and transformers often score higher. Sealed integrated LED and motion-sensor fixtures often score lower because proprietary internal parts are harder to source.
What should I check first on an old transformer?
Check the outlet and GFCI, then transformer output voltage, load wattage, terminal condition, cable runs, and connector corrosion. A transformer problem can also be caused by a shorted cable or overloaded run.
The Database Principle
The most valuable repair information is not just the model name. It is the model identity plus voltage class, wattage, connector style, housing type, likely failure point, and compatible part direction. That is the reason this database is structured as a technical repair index instead of a simple list.
If you are converting an older GL-series or clip-on connector system to modern wiring, review whether other lighting brands work with Portfolio connectors and the universal lighting compatibility source before splicing or mixing parts.
For low-voltage path and flood models, use the Portfolio path lights guide and Portfolio flood lighting guide to compare beam spread, stake style, lens condition, and compatible replacement fixtures.
